From The Goldendale Sentinel:
Cougars will test Knights in Friday clash of unbeaten teams January 11, 2012 | Vol. 133, No. 2 | View PDF
Lyle-Wishram’s boys’ basketball team will test it’s defense against perennial league champs from Sunnyside Christian this Friday in Lyle. The Cougars have won their last five games including league wins over Bickleton and Yakama Tribal. Defense has keyed the Cougars’ wins and they will be tested by the 6-4 Knights.
Jonathan VonAhn had a big night with 31 points and 11 rebounds in the Cougar’s 59-50 win over Yakama Tribal. The following night team scoring led the way in a 61-31 win at Bickleton. Dustin Mutch scored 16 and Justin Mills scored 10 points as eight Cougars scored.
The Knights are 1-0 in league with a 75-37 win over Tribal on Saturday paced by their two big men, Brandon Broersma with 20 and Trevor Wagenaar with 17 points.
The Cougars match up with the Knights in size better than the other teams in the league. When they have their defense moving, they can shut down the middle. The big question is, can the Cougars score against the Knights who also have a stellar defense?
Tip off follows the girls’ game, which starts at 6 p.m.
