Last night a jamboree was held with (1A) Stevenson, (1A) Goldendale, Lyle/Wishram, and host Klickitat. Lyle/Wishram played a talented Stevenson team. The Lady Cougars came out as I had thought the would- kind of flat and scrappy. We have a talented bunch of Sophmores and Freshmen. They are learning under the toutalage of Assistant Coach Joe Bales. Stevenson has a few good players inside and outside. The Lady Cougars played Klickitat in their second game and were much better. It was a good showing for the Lady Cougs who got up on the Lday Vandals and then started throwing up dumb shots. I am sure that will be corrected. The 10 min game got close at the end but the Lady Cougs ended up being able to run off the last 8 sec's for the 'win'.

The best part of this Lady Cougar team is that there are no Senoirs playing. They are coming around to Coach Bales' coaching. I didn't expect to see this good of play from the girls last night. We have Dufur (OR) Friday and that will be a tough test.

I have always said, "It's tough to beat Dufur in Dufur" and that goes for all sports, from grade school on up. The Lady Cougars had the lead for most of the game. 18-18 at the half. Dufur pulled ahead in the final couple minutes. This is the best Lady Coug team I have seen in years and they have yet to scratch their potential. If not for a few late game questionable calls (possession and fouls) this could have been a "W" for the Lady Cougs. Taylor Darden for Dufur is a stud!
DUFUR 39, LYLE-WISHRAM 32: At Dufur, Ore., Suzanna McConville and Maelynn Luke scored 10 points apiece for the Cougars (2-1), and Luke added eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

HR is a pretty tall team. We will have issues with tall teams. More than a few times we got the ball taken away under the basket (most should have been over the back). The Lady Cougs handled the HR press alot better than they did Tuesday vs SWC (in a big loss). Our non-league schedule is very good for getting the girls ready for the league. I know no other team in the Gorge is as big as the teams we are playing now, and we are by far more athletic than any other Gorge team. I don't know what SSC has for height.
HOOD RIVER JV 62, LYLE-WISHRAM 51: At Hood River, freshman Lacy Carse hit for 20 points and had five steals as the Cougars moved to 3-3.

Highlights: Carse (LW) 5 stls, Luke (LW) 8 stls, 5 assts.
