No, was refering to the Eastside shutout in Spokane. They were the West's last chance to get a win. When I went to bed I had givin up hope that the west would win one, only to wake up and find that NB had pulled off the upset. Looked bad on paper: Rosalia had beat ACH, who smoked MRL, who smoked NB in the 123 tourney.

The old saying- "That's why they play the game". Congrats to the Knights of Sunnyside Christian boys and Colton girls.

Just an observation- I was watching the 4A Girls title game on FSN and couldn't believe the crowd at the game. My geusstimate was no more than 400 people at the Tacoma Dome. Now, I realize there may have been a few hundred more on Thurs, and/or Friday. Probably not Thursday though. This is why the WIAA is losing $ on the b-ball tourney!

It looked like about 50 people on that one side of the court during the girls game. Looked like not many people traveled across the mountains this year.

Yeah, i thought so too. Most of the 50 were students, probably on a "routers" bus. No hotel, etc there.....

Hey cougcoach, looks like we might have a pretty good day for your first spring practice. I did hear that the wind was blowing there though, so might have some wind chill. At least no rain so far, knock on wood.

The WIAA will also have a survey that they will send to the head coach of all the State participants, I believe. I listened to an interview with Mike Colbrese a couple of days ago. This survey will be different from the ones the fans are allowed to fill out.

Good to hear from you LoggerPride. Our AD got a survey from the WIAA and he said it was the same survey. I enjoyed how they word the questions that forces you to put an answer that you don't necessarily want to say (i.e. the ones that have you answer 1-7). Just as the old saying goes, "Liars figure and figures lie."

I for one did (do) not like this format of a State Tournament. Here are some points: 1) The Regionals are not set up to be equally competitive. In Walla Walla there were 3 of the Top 5 ranked boys teams (I know about rankings, thank you) and the girls eventual State Champ and runner-up. The Regionals should be more equal even if Eastsiders have to travel to the West. 2) They made a 4 day tourney into a 5 day tourney. The 8 school who made the 'final round' (in my opinion the true State Tourney) have more costs for travel, hotel, etc and also the kids missed more school. 3) (Thanks to Hawksfan for this point) A team can lose a game in what is suppose to be a State Tournament round (Regional) and still be State Champ. That can't happen in volleyball, or any other sport with a similar structure. 4) We played in Walla Walla- a great gym and facility. But the atmosphere for the players and coaches was not the same as playing in front of the crowd they would have had in Yakima or Spokane. The turnout was ok but probably 1/3 of the people that would have been in the stands elsewhere. The kids got ripped off. 5) Only 6 teams took home trophies. In the past 8 teams got that thrill.

Me being a softball coach want the same opportunity to lose and still have a chance to win the state tournament. Not saying that we will qualify, but if we do, I'd like that same opportunity.
