So I watched my 1st track meet in years. Somehow they managed to get around 20 kids out for track in Taholah, which is unheard of. We've always had some decent athletes, but they usually have no interest in turning out. Lots of credit to the coaches for getting them out. We have 4-5 kids that have a shot to be competetive at state. The boys relay team could be dangerous. Everything is really raw right now, but fun to watch!

Chitwin, Check out www.athletic.net/ . (you have to go through the process to find Taholah) It is a track website set up by a guy in Oregon. Alot of schools use it for meet registration, etc. They have Top 10 (or whatever you want to see) for each event. We use it for our team (both middle school and high school) My middle school kids love to look up where they rank after every meet.

That's a really great site. Its awesome to be able to see Jr. High and High school on the same site. I was wondering how all the kids knew exactly where they were ranked.

So I see Henry Matai has moved up to #2 in the Shot Put. He should give Alex Fletcher a run for his money. Two solidly built kids.

If he (Henry) could get his discus to stay inside the chalk he would be up in the tips there also. He could make State in 4 of 5 events ( both hurdles, 4x400, shot, and/or discus).

Wow, he hurdles too? I've been wondering about the disc, I would expect him to be at or near the top soon. Kameron is pretty good in the shot, but our district only sends one to state. Fletcher has that one all but wrapped up.

Fletcher is 7th overall in the state in disc for all from 4A down pretty cool to see. North river has to be one of the smallest schools in the state

Chitwin I think the top 2 in districts go to state thats how it was last yr anyway. I think my son will be going in at least two events could be 4 if he keeps working at it.

I don't know how it works, but I am told we alternate with another district. 2 last year, 1 this year.

If you only get 1 berth then I sympathize with you. When we were 2B we only had 1 also. Alot of possible state placers stayed home because we weren't able to 'pigtail' with another District to get more.

That would be to bad. We have a couple of kids in several events that are in the top 10 in state. Would be a shame to have them miss state when they could place or even win but finish second in districts.

I agree 100%. I am becoming more jaded everyday by the way the postseason in all sports is being ran. I guess I need to get a life! ;D ;D

It wouldn't be so bad, in my opinion, if a kid could qualify for State by meeting the qualifying standard at any time during the season rather than just the District meet.
